After Two Paths, which I thought deviated a little from their older sound a little, I feel like this is the return of Ensiferum that I was looking for. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable album, and while not every song grabbed me straight away, I feel like with another few listens, they will also be firm favourites. The album flowed really well, and I have a feeling that this will be one of my favourite releases of 2020.
To be honest, this was the first time I’d given Boisson Divine some time to check them out. I’ve been on a massive power metal binge recently and to listen to some new folk metal I hadn’t heard before was really refreshing! I definitely need to dive into the back catalogue and have a good listen and expand my French folk metal knowledge! This album is largely upbeat, and there’s a general good feeling. For me, there is definitely some power metal elements in there, and that is certainly no bad thing! La Halha is definitely an album that will be on my repeats this year.
If you were following me last year, you know if was a bad year for me health-wise, so I missed out on a lot of releases. After joining the Twilight Force Discord, it was only fair I gave Dawn of the Dragonstar a proper listen and review.
Now, where can I find a dragon to ride across green valleys and mountain ranges???
The quality and musicianship of the band is impeccable, and I can’t fault the talent that these guys have. I will be keeping a close eye on ShadowQuest in the future, and listening to Armoured IV Pain, their first release.
Well, what is there to say about Alestorm? They’re a bit like Marmite, people either love them or hate them, and they’re a little bit silly. If you’re a hard core metal elistist who has a traditional view on how metal should be, this is probably not the album for you.
Alestorm have provided us with EXACTLY the kind of album we need during this quite horrible time in the world today!
My only issue? There’s not enough music! If you enjoy traditional style power metal that’s catchy, then Fellowship are a band to keep an eye on!
