It makes me want to buy some Spandex pants, leg warmers, back comb my hair and combine all that with some Doc Martens and a leather jacket. That is the only way I can think that would accurately depict the feel of this album.

Haggefugg – Fass zum Teufel
I am definitely going to try and catch them at Wacken Winter Nights, as from what I can hear the live performance is likely to evoke more feeling, and of course, you can’t have a jig pit while sitting on a bus listening to this album on the way to work…
Lex Talion – Sons of Chaos
The album tells a story, not only through the lyrics but through the instrumentals as well. There are highs and lows in the music as an epic battle or war seems to take place throughout the tracks of the album.
Teshaleh – Born of Fire
Despite the fact the album doesn’t really flow well for me personally, the actual composition of the individual tracks is really good. If a future full-length release is in the works, I would like to see some more consistent themes in the instrumentals.
Warkings – Reborn
There was such a hype on social media before this debut was released the for me it didn’t quite hit impossibly high standard. However, it is a damn good album!
Grailknights – Knightfall
This album is prime for a power metal party and I can definitely imagine myself with all my power metal loving friends having a grand old time with some drinks seeing Grailknights live.
Dyrnwyn – Sic Transit Gloria Mundi
Italian folk metal seems to be coming into it’s own with some quality acts right now, and Dyrnwyn are no different, they are fantastic and I very much look forward to hearing more from them in the future. I thoroughly recommend these guys if you are looking for some pagan folk metal in the style of Moonsorrow.

Dragony – Masters of the Multiverse
With keys adding cheese, soaring vocals, guitar solos, singalong choruses, and a power ballad, it has all the ingredients you need for one hell of a power metal banger.
Skálmöld – Sorgir
Sorgir will not only appeal to the die hard Skálmöld fans, but also to those who may not have heard much of their music before and are into the more traditional metal sound.
Saltatio Mortis – Brot und Spiele (Deluxe Edition)
This album is consistent in quality, it is what you would expect from Saltatio Mortis and what you would expect from a folk metal album.
Bloodshed Walhalla – Ragnarok
When I heard that this was blackened Viking metal, I wasn’t expecting the amount of folky influences akin to Moonsorrow, and I really do enjoy that. The Italian folk metal scene, and the southern European folk metal scene in general are getting bigger, and there are some fantastic bands coming out of this.
Celtachor – Fiannaíocht
I’m really looking forward to seeing Celtachor again live. It is not often that Irish folk metal is heard, it is more often the more Northern European folk metal that fans are more familiar with.
Cruachan – Nine Years of Blood
This is certainly an album I will be listening to again, and if you haven’t had the chance to check these guys out yet, you should!
Sojourner – The Shadowed Road
Each song on this album is its own story, its own journey. Sojourner have a unique sound in their own right.
Tengger Cavalry – Cian Bi
An unusual folk metal album which deviates from the normal European style. It flows really well and the composition is fantastic.
Armored Dawn – Barbarians in Black
Barbarians in Black is a hard-hitting, heavy power metal album which you should really add to your collection.
Kamelot – The Shadow Theory
I really, really want to like this album. I really do. I’ve heard great things about Kamelot and on paper they sound like exactly my kind of band, but this albun really didn’t meet my expectations. I can tell the music itself is really well written and thought out, but at times it almost seems like it’s too well thought out at times.
Adavant – The Unyielding
This album is a great mix of power, folk and symphonic metal, with heavy Ensiferum influences. If you enjoy these genres, Adavant is a band you definitely want to be keeping track of in the future!
Auri – Auri
If you love the folk melodies in metal, this is a pure, stripped down version and it is every bit as beautiful you would expect.
